The Swan Songs of Summer

Crickets working their best in the day,
Hoping to attract a mate,
Before too late.
Cool evenings, and early sunsets.
My Marigolds are pushing skyward, struggling for more life.
The signs of Fall: Birds are flocking, and already flying in formation.
Oh! The delight of the coolness!
The sad refrain of the swallows complaining of losing the Summer season of insects!
Soon a cold night will arrive…
The Crickets will no longer sing their songs.
The summer bird songs will wail the woe of having to travel South.
I will await the winter birds, and feed them well.
I’ll delight in the life they bring.
And look forward to the songs they sing.

P.S.- Just a little extra for those suffering from the withdrawals of Summer.
